so matt blinn points out to me that the wikipedia reference from below states this:

just walked to work.  only about 6-7 minutes, but it is 0 outside.  as in there are no degrees of warmth out.  not only that it feels like -16.   as in not only are there no degrees of warmth, but 16 of them have been removed from that.  my thighs (which were actually moving as i walked-which should produce warmth) felt like they were frozen at least a 1 inch deep.  to some up my walk to work i will use one word.....hurt.
